Asus makes it so easy to update Asus smartphones over the air. In fact, I have upgraded my Asus Zenfone selfie from Android lollipop to Android Android 6.0 Marsmallow without making use of the computer.
Before you can update your Asus phone, you need to know how to check the software version of your phone. This is simply because most updates work only with specific software versions.
For example, when I wanted to update the OS of my Asus Zenfone Selfie to Android M, the official release note clearly states that the ASUS ZenFone Selfie software Image: V51.15.40.1582 is for WW SKU only*
What this simply means, is that the update won’t work on any Asus Zenfone Selfie which is not the WW model.
SO, HOW DO I CHECK IF MY ASUS PHONE MODEL IS WW, CN, TW ETC?
Go to Settings > About Phone > Software Version > Build Number.
Right there, you should see something like WW, CN, TW etc in the displayed number.
HOW DO I CHECK FOR SOFTWARE UPDATES ON ASUS ZENFONE SELFIE?
Go to “Settings” > “System Updates”
Right there, you will see the date you last checked for update, the current build number and options to auto-download updates.
Whenever you want to check for available updates, just tap on “Check Update”
If update is available after “checking” is complete, a notification will pop up with an option to start installation of the update.
Just follow the instruction and your phone will be updated with eas.
